Sue the Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex)
Date: 2008/Aug/21 Thu
You're looking at the largest, most complete, and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex ever discovered. This combination of size, completeness, and quality of preservation makes Sue one of the most important fossils in the world.
Size:
Sue is the largest known specimen of T. rex. Her extreme size has set new records for length and estimated weight for her species.
Quality of preservation:
Most of Sue's bones are so well preserved that, 67 million years after her death, you can still see fine surface details. These details help researchers to reconstruct what Sue might have looked like and how she moved when she was alive.
