Dozens of Poisonous Bullet Ants
Date: 2008/Aug/19 Tue
Bullet Ant Paraponera clavata
These are among the biggest ants you'll ever see—and the most dangerous! To defend themselves, they attack with a fiery sting. The toxin they inject causes pain, trembling, nausea and temporary paralysis around the wound.
Watch for ants carrying drops of sugar water through the tunnel to their nest on the forest floor. In the wild, bullet ants climb trees to gather insects and plant nectar as food for themselves and those in the nest.
